About John C Avery

22+ years of experience in capital equipment sales, marketing, operations, and sales management with GE Healthcare prior to transitioning into Real Estate.

I am a 17 year resident of the Northeast Valley who advises clients the way that I would want to be advised, taking market research and due diligence very seriously from start to finish.  For many people, purchasing a home is simultaneously the biggest single investment they will ever make and potentially the trickiest legal contract into which they will enter (unless of course they get married 😉).  I believe Buyers and Sellers should choose their realtor in that context, and that belief is at the core of how I approach my job.

My five key objectives are:  understand client priorities; maintain intense focus; provide guidance that is market data-driven and strategic; take personal ownership at every step; and make the home buying and selling process fun. Life is too short not to!

I strive to act as a fiduciary, advisor, and advocate who ensures that client are well-informed and aware of options and associated risks; and then to execute their wishes as directed to facilitate a positive result.  In the current environment, risk mitigation is my top priority.  This new market we've entered post the Spring 22 frenzy is a dramatic change vs previous years, and one in which Buyers can be cautious and strategic (and should be), and Sellers need to be objective and realistic (they must be).

I do not aggressively try to convince prospects to hire me, but I do act very aggressively on my clients' behalf.  I work for people, not money (although it's why I work). For that reason, I am not an active marketer of my services to the general public, online or in print.  I love my job when I love working for the client(s) and that does not happen by accident; 100% of my business comes from personal connections and referrals.

I don't ask for referrals, either, but I try very hard to earn them.  My goal is for clients to have been sufficiently pleased with my efforts to leave a lasting impression; each of them be the judge of that.  I will not beg you to hire me, but I will bust my arse for you if you do! 😉
